Built in 1845 by Cyrus Aldrich, a member of the Illinois General Assembly, the Aldrich House has retained the style and elegance of the Greek Revival period of the mid 1800's. This classic Galena Bed and Breakfast has entertained such historical figures as U.S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain, and resides in a quiet residential neighborhood close to main street.
The Aldrich Guest House has five gracefully appointed guest rooms that include queen sized beds, private baths, hardwood floors and antiques. Claw foot tubs, fireplaces and fresh baked cookies complete your accommodations.
Guests are served a candlelit full hot breakfast in the formal dining room each morning, featuring menus that range from hot cobblers and specialty egg dishes, to gourmet French toast and homemade pastries.
The Aldrich Guest House boasts expansive gardens on the green where General Grant once trained the first Union Troops of Galena.
